Many of us face times in our life when we feel confused or overwhelmed by our feelings and emotions. Often a specific event such as a bereavement or relationship breakdown will leave us feeling low and helpless. Sometimes, we just can’t seem to pinpoint the cause of the emotional difficulties we are facing. Even though you have found this website, you may still be unsure if counselling is for you. You may have questions such as, ‘Is my problem serious enough?’ or ‘Will anyone understand me?’
Counselling can offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can simply talk about your feelings in a way you may not be able to with family and friends. It is a space in which you will be listened to and in which you and the counsellor will work together to find solutions and answers that will give you new ways of tackling your difficulties.
