Deborah Sloan Counselling BrightonMany of us face times in our life when we feel confused or overwhelmed by our feelings and emotions. Often a specific event such as a bereavement or relationship breakdown will leave us feeling low and helpless.  Sometimes, we just can’t seem to pinpoint the cause of the emotional difficulties we are facing. Even though you have found this website, you may still be unsure if counselling is for you.  You may have questions such as, ‘Is my problem serious enough?’ or ‘Will anyone understand me?’

Counselling can offer a safe, non-judgemental space where you can simply talk about your feelings in a way you may not be able to with family and friends.  It is a space in which you will be listened to and in which you and the counsellor will work together to find solutions and answers that will give you new ways of tackling your difficulties.

I work with individuals and couples on a wide range of issues including:

Depression Family conflict
Grief and loss Infertility
Anger Menopause
Lack of self esteem Chronic illness
Major life changes Survivors of Childhood abuse
Relationship difficulties/breakdown  Psycho-sexual issues

Each person’s story and experience are unique and in my practice I try to find ways of engaging with each client’s personal sense of being. I never underestimate the courage it takes to come to seek counselling help.

If you feel I can help you, please contact me via email, telephone or the form on the contact page. I will get back to you as quickly as I can.
